Modernize the systems that serve SAR members and researchers

SAR’s information technology supports membership administration, genealogy services, financial operations, records management, and the ability of members and researchers to access important information. Modernization will help make these services more efficient, reliable, and prepared for future needs.

  • Improve tools and processes used by members, chapters, and state societies.
  • Strengthen access to genealogical records and research services.
  • Reduce manual, paper-based work and avoidable administrative delays.
The IT Modernization Project combines practical operational improvements with responsible stewardship of SAR’s historic records.

Preserve a growing collection and improve future retrieval

Digitization of records is a key priority within the IT Modernization Project. Supporting documents are submitted with every application received by the Society and serve as evidence used to establish lineage to Patriots of the American Revolution.

Over many decades, the collection has grown to an estimated more than three and a half million pages, and the Society’s physical archival storage vault has reached capacity. Copies of supporting documents can be purchased from the Society; however, locating, reproducing, and delivering paper records is a time-consuming and inefficient process.

Digitization will help preserve these historically significant materials and prepare SAR to make records easier to retrieve and provide to members and researchers.
