Help Digitize and Preserve SAR’s Historic Genealogical Collection
Your gift helps the Sons of the American Revolution preserve and digitize historically significant genealogical records maintained at National Headquarters in Louisville, Kentucky. These records document lineages to Patriots of the American Revolution and support the members, researchers, and future generations who rely on them.
Support records that researchers use every day
The Sons of the American Revolution maintains an extensive collection of genealogical records used to help establish applicants’ lineages to Patriots of the American Revolution. Your support helps preserve these historically significant materials while making them easier to locate, retrieve, and provide to members and researchers.
- Preserve irreplaceable genealogical documentation.
- Improve access for members and researchers.
- Safeguard the legacy of America’s Revolutionary generation.
A growing collection and a full archival vault
Supporting documents are submitted with every application received by the Society and serve as evidence used to establish lineage. Over many decades, this collection has grown to an estimated more than three and a half million pages, and the Society’s archival storage vault has now reached capacity.
Digitization is essential not only to preserve these materials, but also to improve how efficiently records can be located, retrieved, and provided when they are needed.
Preservation, retrieval, and long-term system improvements
The President General has established a fundraising goal of $3 million to support records digitization and related information technology upgrades. This effort will help preserve historically significant records while supporting more efficient records management and better service to members and researchers.
